Book to Movie
Decent and Terrible Book-to-Movie Adaptations
While watching “The Outsiders”, I decided to make a list of the movies based on books and my opinion of them. I’ll add to this list as I see the movies, but, for now, it remains scanty.
GENUINLY GOOD TO AMAZING MOVIES
Movie: Emma (2010) Book: Emma by Jane Austen
Move: The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982) Book: The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy
Movie: The Outsiders (1983) – Book: The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton (1967)
Movie: The Secret Life of Bees (2008) – Book: The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (2003)
Movie: The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio (2005) – Book: The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mother Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less by Terry Ryan (2002)
Movie: And Then There Were None – Book: And Then There were None/Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie
Movie: The Phantom of the Opera (2005) – Book: The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
Movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) – Book: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
NOT-SO-GREAT TO REALLY CRAPPY MOVIES
Movie(s): Harry Potter Movies 1-6 – Book(s): The Harry Potter Series 1-6 by J.K. Rowling
Haha, I’m not a huge fan of the HP movie series either 😛 But I still watch them because anything harry potter related I need to be apart of. But I really did like the Outsiders book and move (book more though). The secret LIfe of Bees movie wasn’t bad either, is the book any good?
Sorry! I kept forgetting to reply!
The Secret Life of Bees is a fantastic book. Absolute masterpiece, 5/5 stuff. 😀 It’ll make you cry and laugh and love. I definitely recommend it.
Actually, it was just after I finished the 7th HP book (I read it without nearly any sleep within about 24 hours) when my mom brought BEES home to me. Someone at her work had recommended it, and she figured I needed a book to take my mind off the end of Harry Potter (I’d called her in the middle of the day, crying)! Lol. ;D
